One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
During the usual craze, madness and insanity of an ordinary work day, I looked up from my desk to the sky outside my office yesterday and then this came over:
A nice adult - probably female - White-tailed Eagle. They are common along the German Baltic coast and I see them a few times each year from my office window, but never before did one come this close while I had my camera at hand.

Well, I was trying to photograph the swifts, so it was luck indeed to have the camera ready. The sky over my office is an amazing birding place and our office window list now exceeds 120 species. If you look on a map, you'll see that Stralsund is some sort of bottle neck for waterbirds flying from the bay of Greifswald NW to the open Baltic Sea and for migrating landbirds who enter the mainland from the island of Rügen, so it is a good place indeed.
Corey, this office/work is so mad...dening and crazy that I thought the comparison to us who are trapped within to a cuckoo's nest was fitting. And you know where I left my eggs in North America? In cowbird's nests.

Cool-I forgot where you were located because I was thinking that it was an odd looking Bald Eagle.
Larry, it is sometimes easy to forget that, even for me (well, maybe not) because I still mostly blog about North American topics due to a general lack of recent (German) birding which is thanks to my son and my lovely, lovely job...

Yes, it was really stunning. I thoroughly enjoy White-tailed Eagles. They are so immensely impressive, even more so than their North American cousin, the Bald Eagle. No matter how often you see them here, you still raise your binocs and marvel at each and every single one.
